The Pig Hotel, know the origins of your food

What is it?
This “hotel” is actually a restaurant with rooms. It is a building from the 17th century and the interior is cosy. Just a simple and authentic design, not something new and austere. It seems relaxing and comfortable. This homely theme continues in the walled garden, where all ingredients of the dinners come from. There is a lot to see down the Pig Hotel that the personnel say: visitors don’t want to leave. The menu of the restaurant changes often, it depends on what the forager finds and on the condition of the food. The pig hotel sais: “this is a genuine way of running our kitchen”. The garden consists of a kitchen garden, a greenhouse garden, a herb patch, chickens, pigs and more.

“ Everything is driven by the gardener, forager and chef in the kitchen garden.”

Why is it cool?
The header on the Pig House says: “Eating at the Pig is truly a one-of-a-kind-experience.” The food of the Pig House is influenced by the forest and coast and it has an emphasis squarely on clean, fresh flavours. The meat comes from a local butcher. This is only local, special selected and New Forest Mark meat. The forager will take visitors on a educational experience through the forest and along the coast. They will find, collect and identify wild food. Nothing of the making of the food is hidden. We are seeing this way of having restaurants more at the moment and it is something special, that’s why this restaurant with rooms is cool.

Why does it have future growth potential?

Costumers are questioning the origins of their food. They are demanding transparency for restaurant’s food, animal welfare and labor. This has future growth potential because of what the Pig Hotel is doing, they meet the needs of their costumers. The food is local and the visitors can see the garden with the forager. Nothing is hidden. The Pig Hotel makes sure that their visitors know where their food comes from.I really like it, I would definitely have a dinner over there! It is interesting.
