Super Highway

Traffic jams. Very annoying, aren't they? Well, there's a solution.

 What is it?

A busy and congested highway in the UK is going to become Britain's first internet connected road.  Sensors along a part of the highway will monitor traffic by sending signals to mobile phones in moving vehicles. Hopefully, this system will prevent long traffic jams along the road.

Why is it cool?
Traffic jams are a big worldwide problem. Hopefully, this Super Highway can be the solution! I think that it can make the quality of life better, because a lot of people get frustrated by traffic jams. When we can prevent those traffic jams, we can make people happier!

Why does it have future growth potential?
High tech is always developing. That is why I think this internet connected road has future growth potential. This high technology traffic system is really smart. The telecom watchdog Ofcom says: “Sensors in cars and on the roads monitor the build-up of congestions and wirelessly send this information to a central traffic control system, which automatically imposes variable speed limits that smooth the flow of traffic." (The Guardian). The concept may sound a little futuristic, but if it is possible to create more internet connected roads, it is possible to prevent traffic jams.
